Business Manager

The Business Manager manages the daily business operations of the library.  Maintains personnel, financial, business, and library records.  Performs administrative, personnel, office and bookkeeping duties. Develops, revises and implements accounting systems and procedures to provide complete and accurate accounting for the Libraries' financial transactions. Essential duties include Human Resources management, financial management, and budgeting.

Required knowledge and skills:

·         Thorough knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of accounting.

·         Thorough knowledge of financial administration including budgeting and reporting.

·         Good knowledge of modern office terminology, procedures, equipment and business English. Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.

·         Ability to develop and maintain accounting systems.

·         Uses personal computer to make financial inquires, maintain records and make financial analyses.

·         Computer skills, particularly with spreadsheets (Excel) and Word. Experience with G Suite a plus.

·         Knowledge of financial software (experience with Blackbaud and Paycor a plus).

·         Excellent organizational skills.

·         Knowledge or ability to learn GASB regulations.

·         Completes continuing education classes as assigned; seeks and pursues professional development opportunities with supervisor approval.  Shows initiative in improving and expanding professional skills.  Participates in Financial Classes provided by Georgia Public Library Service and Association of County Commissioners of Georgia.

Minimum requirements:

Education:       Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.

Experience:     4 years recent accounts payable/receivable experience; proficient in accounting software, and use of Excel.

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Hourly position, starting between $18-$24 per hour, negotiable, depending on qualifications. Benefits include generous paid vacation, sick leave, optional medical & dental insurance under State Health Plan, and participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Georgia. Service accrued under TRS is transferrable.

Library Assistant, Part-Time $12-$16/hr
Where: Multiple locations

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, aids patrons in finding materials to meet their information and recreation needs. Performs circulation and patron registration tasks. May assist with program planning and presentation. Other duties as required.

Supervisory Controls
Works under the supervision of the Branch Manager. Routine tasks and projects are done with little supervision. In the absence of the Branch Manager, reports to the Assistant Branch Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities
None

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree. College graduate preferred.
Experience: Two or more years of public contact work.
Any combination of experience and education providing the needed skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clerical skills with emphasis on accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Excellent people/interpersonal skills.
  • Broad general knowledge of literature and information sources.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment.
